Sheliak

About

Sheliak is the cruiser version of the “koala hightech”, from which it gets its hull form and deck plan.
The sail plan is new, as are the mobile keel and interior layouts.

The Yacht

Compared to the “Koala”, less extreme construction materials than carbon have been chosen, but they are just as valid in terms of their strength/light weight ratio. The sail plan sums up the most modern concepts of “easy sailing”, essentially for family cruising use and the boat has a carbon mast with spreaders slightly towards the stern, without flying rig and slightly fractional, set very far back for better trim and with a large batten main, a genoa at 140 %, a movable fore mast and a large gennaker with retracting bowsprit.

Characteristics

The interiors once again reflect the use of composite materials as having both an aesthetic and structural use and the pairing of these materials, with “exposed” treatment, serves to create a modern, light and airy interior. Compared to the “Koala”, “Sheliak” is roomier, since the layout includes two rather than three cabins. The technology used and the design choices made have all focused on safety, fun and comfort. One example can be seen in the centreboard step, which is located in the dinette, fore, where it is a furnishing item as well as a functional piece. Moreover, modern technology has allowed us to create a “transparent” centreboard step so that once the centreboard has been lowered; its visual impact is dramatically reduced. This craft has been built using unidirectional Kevlar and glass fibres impregnated with epoxy resin under vacuum and post-cured at 70° C on a variable density Airex core for hull, deck and fittings.
